I love art. Painting is truly a relaxing thing. I hope to open an art blog sometime soon.
Yet again, a project I did for my High School art class this year. This is the third and final piece to my Senior display. I had been wanting to paint a big pirate-like ship for some time. After many attempts at sketching one, I settled on a sail boat. It was done in Oil Paints and it was my first time using them. I had some trouble with how slow the paint dries and kept dipping my arm into the paint and smearing it into places that it shouldn’t have been. I’m a little upset with how the blue colour in the sky ended up drying different shades but it was my first time working with this media, so I won’t be too hard on myself. Overall, I’m generally okay with how it turned out. Perhaps in the future I’ll redo the pieces with more details and more experience under my belt.

Another piece I did for my Art class this year. This one was also done in acrylic. The idea came from a post of an octopus I saw on tumblr actually. I decided to do the background as just a plain black because it was simple and didn’t draw attention away from the Octopus. It also did it’s job in representing the darkness of the ocean floor that I wanted to achieve at the same time. I chose bright neon colours because I wanted it to be somewhat alien while having a luminescent effect, similar to angler fish at the bottom of the sea.
